Memphis MC Cool Court didn’t have to think too long or hard when it came to choosing a stage moniker being that he’s had a devoted fan base since he was a youngster. From his fashion to his flows, the rap whiz born Courtney Miller epitomizes the definition of laid back cool. His fun-loving image is an organic blend of his positive attitude, charismatic personality and hood-rich environment. Being raised on the eastside of the city, which is known for its love of all things flashy and shiny, coolness is embedded in Cool Court’s DNA. His mainstream upbringing and influences are reflected in his music, as well as a salute to the hard streets of Memphis. “It’s gutter out here and I represent that element but I also rep another side of me, which is a little different but still relatable.”

Growing up, the all-around entertainer was known as the go-to kid for his slick dance moves. “Every time a new dance came out, I knew how to do it,” explains the rhymester. “I’ve always been on top of whatever is new and hot. I grew up on The Box, MTV and BET and was influenced by every genre of music they played, which is how I became so versatile.” The day that turned his life around was watching Eminem’s 8 Mile movie, inspiring him to take his skill set to the next level. Although Cool Court would often freestyle with his brother, it wasn’t until he entered a rap battle in 2002 and consistently dominated his competition that gave him the edge he needed to turn his hobby into a viable career. 

Cool Court caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer and Memphis native Drumma Boy who took an interest in his unique talents. “Being that we’re from the same place, we knew of each other, but we really connected after he kept seeing me everywhere. He respected the way I was out here grinding and that respect was mutual.” As a Black card carrying member of all things trendy, Cool Court has reigned over his block for years and is now ready to take his self-described brand of “pretty boy” swag global.
